1. there are up to 40,000 different snail species ! there are 3 main groups of snails ; land snails (which are literally the snails the website is about) , freshwater snails and sea snails !

2. snails have roughly 60,000 teeth !!!

3. snails both hibernate and aestivate ! hibernation is winter sleep in case of too low/too high humidity and/or temperatures , and aestivation is it's summer (and heat) version ! they can even do that for 3 years !!

4. (most of) snails are hermaphrodites , meaning they have both male and female reproductive organs ! some species can even reprodouce by themselves !!

5. there are many types of giant african land snails that are basically huge snails that originate in africa! they are highly invasive and EXTREMELY CUTE :DDDD the biggest one ever recorded was a whopping 40cm or 15.7 inches !!

6. whenever snails eat something their poop is the colour of the food they ate ! for example a carrot poop would be orange , a lettuce poop green etc etc

7. snails first evolved 500 million years ago !!

8. this is more gastropod related than snail related ,, but there is also a unique... creature? called a snug! they are basically halfway slugs ,, its really weird and i dont know much ab them so just look them up if youre curious !!

9. snails need calcium to grow and keep their shells healthy !! they also need proteins and fruits to stay healthy in general as well !

10. a snail's shell is also where a lot of the snail's vital organs can be found !

11. the biggest danger to typical land snails is by far humans :(
